The time I accidentally glued my tape measure to a finished cabinet door

I was in my shop in Tacoma last Thursday, rushing to get a big order done, and I set my tape measure down on a freshly glued miter joint. I didn't realize some glue had seeped out, and when I picked it up an hour later, it was stuck solid. I had to carefully pry it off with a putty knife, which left a small dent I had to fill and sand out. Anyone ever have a tool get permanently involved in a project like that?

My shop in Portland has a permanent collection of tools stuck to projects. I mean, I have a screwdriver that's basically part of a bookshelf now. At some point you just give them a name and call it a design feature.

Yeah, that's when you just have to laugh at yourself and grab another tape.

Honestly, that "permanently involved" line got me. I've been there, just staring at a tool stuck to something it should not be stuck to. Tbh, masongonzalez is right about having to laugh it off, but man, that sinking feeling when you first try to pick it up is the worst. It always seems to happen when you're already running behind, too. Glad you managed to fix the dent without having to redo the whole piece.
