Had a 4 day stretch where every single drawer came out dead square and it honestly weirded me out
Last week I knocked out a 12 drawer kitchen in maple and every box slid like glass on the first try. Ngl I kept checking them with my square expecting to find something off, but they were dead on. Then Friday I cut a face frame for a bathroom vanity 3/8 short because I read my tape upside down, and it cost me a full sheet of plywood plus the afternoon. That one slip bugged me more than the 4 good days felt good, which says something about my head. Tbh I think the streak made me lazy, I stopped double checking and that's when it bit me. Any of you notice you make your dumbest cuts right after a hot run?
The streak made me lazy" is where I think you got it backwards. Four days of dead square drawers is not you getting lazy, that is you being dialed in. Your hands and eyes were locked on, and then one bad read on a tape does not erase that. Cutting a face frame 3/8 short because you flipped the tape happens to everybody, hot streak or not, tired or not. What got you was not the good days, it was probably you being worn out by Friday after a long week of killing it. The bad cut bugs you more because it is the one that cost money, that is just how our brains work, we remember the misses way more than the makes. I would say ride the hot streaks and stop waiting for the other shoe to drop, because talking yourself into a slump is real and you do not need to help it along.
