A 1/16 inch gap in a shaker door frame cost me 5 evenings and a new coping sled
Last month I built a set of maple shaker doors for a kitchen in Dayton and one stile came out 1/16 inch proud at the top corner, so I figured I'd shim it and move on. Two evenings later the doors wouldn't sit flush against the face frame and the hinges were fighting me, so I started over on the joinery. Turned out my coping sled had slipped out of square on the last door and I never checked it. I spent 5 evenings chasing that tiny gap before I thought to put a square on the sled itself. If you've had a door fight you like this, what did you find was the real cause?
