Hot take: that free legal clinic at the library in Toledo gave me better advice than the $350/hr guy
I sat in on the small business legal clinic at the downtown library in Toledo two Saturdays ago, mostly expecting a waste of a morning. The volunteer attorney spent 20 minutes going through my lease clause by clause and flagged a personal guarantee I had skimmed right past when I signed in March. The $350/hr lawyer I talked to back in January glanced at the same page and called it standard. I get why people say free advice is worth what you pay for it, but I think that rule falls apart when the free guy actually reads the document. Has anyone else gotten pushback from a paid attorney after trusting a clinic like this?
