The $40 meal plan spreadsheet that beat my $400 grocery habit
Ngl I was the person who thought meal planning was for influencers and people with free time. Last month I hit $478 on groceries for just me and my cat, and I snapped. I spent an evening making a simple Google Sheet with my local Safeway prices and planned 5 dinners around what was on sale, not what sounded good. First week the receipt was $86. I wasn't even trying that hard, just picked two proteins and built meals around them. I thought the whole thing would feel like a chore but honestly the part that got me was seeing the total drop by over half in one week. Has anyone else had that moment where one simple tool just rewired how you shop? What did you use to get your food bill under control?

Did you ever feel kinda dumb that it took a spreadsheet to figure out what should’ve been obvious? Tbh, I had the same wake-up call when I started tracking every single thing I bought and realized I was dropping $60 a week on snacks and drinks I didn’t even crave. That one honest look at the numbers just flips a switch, and suddenly you’re not mad about the effort, you’re mad you didn’t do it sooner.
