Pro tip: my dad's envelope trick saved me $60 a week on coffee

My dad gave me this dumb advice in March, said to pull out cash for fun stuff and put it in envelopes. I laughed at him, figured my card tracking app was doing the same thing. So I tried it for real, just for my daily coffee runs. First week I blew through the $40 envelope by Wednesday, that stung. Next week I dropped to $25 and started making coffee at home two days. By May I was down to $15 a week and my savings account had an extra $240 in it. Seeing the physical cash vanish hit different than a number on my phone, no joke. Different strokes for different folks, but that trick would drive me up a wall. My bank app shows me where my money goes every single week, and honestly the numbers hitting my screen sting just as much as cash disappearing. Plus with cash I'd lose track of what I actually spent it on, since nobody keeps receipts for a coffee run. You found a system that works for you, but tracking digitally just makes more sense for my brain.
