Dropped $140 on a bread machine that made one sad loaf and now sits in my garage
I bought a $140 bread machine back in March thinking I'd save money on loaves, and after 4 tries every loaf came out dense and gummy so I gave up. It's been sitting on a shelf in my garage since May, and I did the math and each of those 4 loaves cost me $35. Did anyone else buy a kitchen gadget for the savings and end up way in the hole?
The "$35 per loaf" line hit me hard because I did the exact same math on my own bad purchase. I got a pasta maker two years ago thinking I'd roll my own noodles every weekend and save a ton, and I used it maybe three times before it went in the closet next to the waffle iron. I'm pretty sure I spent more on flour and eggs for those three batches than I ever saved, and cleaning that thing was a nightmare. It's just so easy to talk yourself into this stuff when you're standing in the store imagining some better version of your life.
