Cash envelopes beat my spreadsheet after I got too fancy with tracking

I spent 6 months building this detailed color coded budget sheet in Google Sheets, but I kept skipping entries by day 3. Last Tuesday I pulled out $220 for groceries and eating out for the week, split it into two envelopes. When the eating out envelope hit zero on Thursday, I just cooked from the pantry instead of tapping my card. Has anyone else found that going low tech with actual cash helps them stop the mindless spending? The visual of an empty envelope hits different than a number on a screen.
