It turned out to be a party hostel with a bar downstairs that blasted music until 3am. I barely slept for two nights and was too tired to enjoy the city. I asked the front desk if they had a quieter room, and they moved me to a top-floor dorm for $5 more per night. That extra cost was worth it, and I actually got some rest. Now I always check for words like 'lively' or 'nightlife' in hostel descriptions before booking. Has anyone else had a hostel surprise that ruined their sleep?
