Rant: Everyone acts like dried beans are the ultimate budget saver, but the long soak time makes them impractical for my busy nights.
I get that they're cheap, but after a long day, I just can't wait hours for beans to cook when canned ones are ready in minutes for only a bit more.

Last month I saved like fifteen bucks just by switching to dried beans. The flavor is way better than canned, and you control the salt. Soaking is not that big a deal, you can do a quick soak on the stove in an hour. Faith_thomas has a point about fridge space, but you can just leave them on the counter overnight if needed. Canned beans are convenient, but they cost more and often taste like the can. A little planning makes dried beans work even on my busiest days.

Try soaking them overnight in the fridge. It takes zero effort from your day, and they're ready when you get home.

That method actually ties up fridge space all day though. Wesley_anderson13 makes it sound simple but it messes with meal planning if you need the room. Just doing a quick soak on the stove is way more flexible.
