My mother in law swore by frozen veggies and I laughed at her for years

She told me last Thanksgiving that bagged frozen broccoli is just as good as fresh and costs half the price. I finally tried it after throwing out wilted fresh stuff for the third week in a row. Anyone else have a relative who turned out to be right about saving money on food?

Ha, your mother in law was right. Sure, frozen veggies are fine for soups or casseroles but they turn to mush if you try to roast them crispy like fresh ones do. You save a few bucks but lose all the texture, so I'd rather just eat fresh stuff fast.

Tried the same thing and honestly the trick is roasting them straight from frozen, no thawing. I throw them on a hot pan with oil and seasonings and they come out crispy on the edges, not mushy at all. Your mother in law was onto something for sure.

3 pounds of frozen broccoli for $3.50 vs $5 for a tiny fresh crown that wilts in 2 days? Yeah, @the_anthony I used to think the same way but then I realized I was basically paying extra to watch my veggies die in the fridge.
