Serious question, did a 2 week stretch of perfect mortar ruin me for normal jobs?
Last month I had 12 straight days where every single batch of mortar came out right. Same sand, same water, same mixing time. 80 degrees and no wind. I was laying 600 brick a day and tapping every one flush on the first try. No re-dos. No cutting out joints that went sour. Then this week I got hit with cold, wet weather and sand that was basically mud. Lost half a day on one wall because the mortar kept setting up too fast in the bucket. I caught myself getting mad at the mud instead of just working with it. That good stretch spoiled me and I know it. So here is my question, do you change your mix or your rhythm when the weather turns, or do you just push through and accept the slower pace? I want to hear what actually works for you.
