Blew $140 on a Kremer pigmented paste that cracked on the third fold
Wanted to warn anyone eyeing those fancy pre-mixed leather paring pastes. Cracked along the spine of a quarto I was rebinding last month, right at the fold, and I had to scrap the whole cover and start over. Stick with the cheap stuff you mix yourself, or am I missing something about how these are supposed to be applied?
Honestly the cracking is usually from the paste drying too stiff, not the price tag. Even the cheap stuff will split at the spine if you lay it on too thick before folding.
