DNF'd two books this month, then a buddy gave me a better read
I forced myself through a 450 page fantasy and a 300 page mystery before admitting both were just okay. My buddy tossed me a short 220 page sci-fi novella on Friday and I finished it by Sunday night. Does it ever feel wrong to ditch a book after 100 pages, or do you all stick it out too?

Dropping a book after 100 pages is the right call more often than not, but calling that sci-fi novella "short" might be underselling it a bit. 220 pages is a solid length for a novella, but a lot of folks would argue a true novella tops out around 150, so it's really more of a short novel in disguise. Doesn't change the point though, a good 220 page read beats a bloated 450 page slog every time. Sticking it out just to say you finished is a trap, your time is worth more than that.
