Unpopular opinion: a cheap angle grinder beat my $200 one on the tank shell job
Did a re-shell on a water tank out in Fort Wayne two weeks back and my old 4.5 inch grinder started bogging out halfway through the seams. Grabbed a $40 Harbor Freight backup out of the truck just to finish the pass and it cut cleaner and cooler than the name brand one ever did. The difference was the wheel, not the tool. That cheap grinder had a fresh 1/16 cutoff wheel on it while my good one had a worn down flap disc I should have swapped an hour earlier. Anyone else find that half the time it is the wheel doing the work and not the motor?
