Saw a hand at the Monroe outage skip purging a 24 inch line and I won't forget it
Two years back at a plant in Monroe I was on a crew doing a shutdown on a recovery boiler. The hand working the line next to mine skipped the purge on a 24 inch steam line before signing off on it. I brought it up to the lead and got the 'we're already behind' look, but I held my ground. About 40 minutes after startup they had to dump the whole section because of water hammer knocking a support loose. Now I walk every line myself before I sign anything, no matter who's rushing. Anyone else had to push back on a lead who wanted to cut corners?
