Warning: My game group almost fell apart over a rules debate about 'Catan'
We were playing a six-player game of 'Catan' last Friday, and a huge argument broke out about the robber. My friend Mike insisted that if you roll a seven and have more than seven cards, you must discard half before moving the robber. Another player, Sarah, argued you move the robber first, then discard. The rulebook was unclear, and the mood got so tense I thought the night was ruined. In a moment of desperation, I pulled out my phone and searched for an official FAQ video from the publisher, Catan Studio. We watched a two-minute clip where the designer himself explained the order: discard, then rob. That settled it instantly. Has anyone else found that a quick video ruling saved a game night from disaster?
