Three hours to fix a bent mini base, I nearly lost it

I spent a full evening last Tuesday trying to get a metal miniature to stand flat after a tiny dent in its base. I used a hairdryer, a flathead screwdriver, and even tried boiling water, but the thing kept wobbling like a boat. Finally I grabbed a pair of pliers and a hardcover book, pressed it for two minutes, and it sat perfect. Has anyone else spent way too long on a dumb modeling fix like this, or am I the only one who refuses to just glue a washer on?

Used to think anyone who spent hours on a base fix was just being extra. Like, glue a coin on it, done. But last week I had a 3D printed guy with a warped base and my stubborn ass spent a whole afternoon with sandpaper and a heat gun. Now I get it, the satisfaction of getting it perfectly flat without cheating is way better than the quick fix. That book trick is smart though, gotta remember that one.

So why waste a whole afternoon fighting a warped base when a half-second glue job gets the same result on the table, right @gavinb97? Quick fixes are just smarter use of your hobby time, and that frustrating perfectionism is the real enemy of actually finishing stuff.
