Rolling dice with a cup instead of my hands fixed my whole luck streak
I watched a guy at the local game store roll seven natural 20s in a row using a leather cup and realized my bouncing dice off the table edge was actually changing the results, so I switched last Friday and now I'm wondering if anyone else has a house rule about dice trays that I've been ignoring.
Three sessions and my dice finally remember what a nat 20 looks like. I had the same setup though, my dice were basically doing parkour off my phone and the snack bowl before landing, so the roll was already dead on arrival. Switched to a cheap felt cup I got at a garage sale and now my halfling rogue actually hits things instead of crit-failing into the furniture. The irony is I spent two years blaming the dice gods when the real problem was my clumsy hands and a greasy table. Now I'm just waiting for the universe to balance it out with seven nat 1s in a row, probably during the boss fight.
