Stopped by an old forge in rural Tennessee last month

There's a guy named Earl who still runs a coal forge out of a barn near Lynchburg. He had a pile of hand twisted iron hooks on his workbench that looked like they were made in 1850. Do you ever wonder if we lean too hard on modern tools and lose something in the process?

Wait, was the forge actually in Lynchburg, or was it closer to Mulberry? I mean, I've driven through that area and Earl's place sounds like it's near the old distillery side, not the main town. Idk, maybe I'm confusing it with another barn forge, but the location in the post seems a little off.

1850?" That's wild. I'd love to see those hooks myself.
