I was hammering out a 12 inch scroll for a gate project in Phoenix last Tuesday and the oak block I've used since 2015 split right down the middle, sending my anvil sideways onto my foot, so now I'm trying to decide between a welded steel tripod or stacking four layers of hardwood, anyone else had a stand fail on them mid-strike?
Ever check what's under the floor where the stand sits? Had a buddy whose slab was cracked and his tripod walked just enough over a few months to keep loosening up. Stacked wood won't fix a bad floor and neither will steel.
