Blew $120 on a propane forge kit from a flea market and it's basically a tin can
Picked up a "complete" propane forge kit at the Springfield flea market last month for $120 because the seller swore the firebrick was rated for welding heat. First real session the lining cracked and the whole thing runs cold past the middle third, so I can't get a decent heat on anything over 6 inches. I was dead set on cheap gear being fine for a beginner, but that burn was the thing that finally convinced me otherwise. Figured I'd warn folks before someone else eats the same loss. Anybody got a build list for a brick and blower setup that actually holds heat?
