Vent: the bike rack outside the library on 5th has been eating derailleurs all winter
I lock up at the Main Street library branch every Tuesday and I swear that rack is cursed. Somebody bent one of the hoops back in November and now the gap is exactly wide enough to catch a rear derailleur cage when you roll the bike in. I watched a guy on a 90s Trek lose his hanger to it last week, and I fixed two more bent cages off that same rack in the past month. Has anyone else got a spot in town like this, or is it just me noticing because I'm the one doing the repairs?
There was a post on the local cycling Facebook group about this exact rack a few weeks ago, someone mapped out which hoops are bent and it's like half of them. The city apparently knows but tickets for repairs take forever, which is why people just keep bending them back and making it worse. Worth cross posting your bent hanger count there so there's a record, since one person complaining is easy to ignore but a whole list of wrecked bikes is not.
