Tried listening to rain sounds on Spotify and it changed my whole wind-down routine

Last week I got sick of scrolling through social media before bed so I searched for rain sounds on Spotify. I picked one called Rain on a Tin Roof that was 8 hours long. I figured it would just be background noise but I actually fell asleep in like 10 minutes. That never happens to me, I usually toss around for an hour. The next morning I felt way less groggy than usual too. Now I have a whole playlist of night sounds I switch between. Has anyone else noticed a real difference with specific sound types or is it just placebo?

Call me crazy but I actually sleep worse with background noise.

Switched to rain sounds a few months ago myself and now I can't sleep without them. Tried the ocean waves ones but they just made me have to pee. The tin roof rain is the only one that actually works for me too. Might just be my brain finally learning to shut off but I don't really care why it works.

Ocean waves did the same thing to me, it was so distracting. I found a recording of steady rain on a windowpane and that finally did the trick. Tried the thunderstorm ones but the loud rumbles kept jolting me awake. Now I just have a little mp3 player with that one track on repeat all night. My girlfriend thinks it's ridiculous but she's the one who falls asleep in ten seconds flat. It's kind of funny how specific our brains get about this stuff.
