The 3 AM glow from my phone cost me a full night at the Grand Canyon
Last month I was camping near Flagstaff and did my usual bedtime scroll under the stars. My screen brightness was up too high and it killed my night vision completely, so when a pack of coyotes started circling the tent I couldnt see a thing to grab my flashlight or bear spray. The ranger at the visitor center told me at least 20 campers a year do the same. Now I set my display to red mode before dark and keep a tiny headlamp clipped to the tent wall, but has anyone else had a close call like this from just checking their phone one last time?
