I finally switched from doomscrolling to watching those 'oddly satisfying' soap cutting videos

I used to just scroll through Twitter before bed and end up angry about some political drama, but last month I found a video of a guy slicing a giant block of rainbow soap and it was so calming I actually fell asleep before it ended. Now I queue up 3 or 4 of those satisfying videos on YouTube and I'm out in 10 minutes instead of 45. Has anyone else ditched stressful feeds for random stuff that just looks nice?

My friend Sarah was exactly the same way. She would scroll through Instagram before bed and get all worked up about some argument in the comments. Then she found those videos of people mixing paint colors and just watching the swirls happen. Now she literally falls asleep to perfume bottle disassembly videos, it's the weirdest thing but she says her brain finally shuts up.

Three perfume bottle disassembly videos and she's fixed? Seems like a strong claim for something that's basically expensive ASMR.
