Appreciation post: my phone flashlight at 2am after the power went out mid-scroll
Woke up Tuesday around 2am in Austin to total darkness. My apartment building lost power and it was the quietest, creepiest thing ever. Before bed I was in that half-asleep doomscroll loop on my phone and it was still in my hand when the blackout hit. I just sat there for a minute, then clicked the flashlight button and my whole room lit up like a tiny sun. Weird thing is, the glow felt more calming than any sleep app I've tried. Kept it on for another 20 minutes, just staring at the ceiling and listening to the hum of the backup generator through the wall. Has anyone else used their phone light as a bedtime nightlight during a power outtage? Did it make you feel less weird about being awake at that hour?
