Overheard a mom tell her kid that haircuts hurt. Sat him in my chair anyway.

Last Saturday at the shop, a kid was crying before I even touched the clippers because his mom told him it would pinch. I just handed him the cape and said "we'll see" and did a quick fade with the guard on. He walked out high-fiving me, and she booked a return visit for next month. Anyone else ever have to undo a parent's warning before you even start?

I read a study once that said kids believe whatever their parents tell them about pain.
