I switched to a coarse comb on thin hair and it backfired hard

Tried using a coarse comb on a client with fine hair last Tuesday, thought it would move faster. By the time I finished the fade, the ends looked like a shredded mess. Clippers kept snagging the tangled bits, took me an extra 20 minutes to fix it. Lesson learned, fine hair gets a fine comb every time. Anyone else had a tool swap go sideways on a regular customer?
