Piping bags at my sister's wedding shower, team parchment or plastic?

I was helping frost 48 cupcakes for her shower in Columbus and the plastic bag split right down the seam, sending buttercream across the kitchen counter. My aunt swore by reusable parchment cones, but my mom said plastic is fine if you double bag it. Which side are you on, and has anyone else had a blowout at a big event like that?

Have you tried those reusable silicone bags that are basically washable piping bags? I was a diehard plastic girl until one burst during my cousin's gender reveal and ruined the whole photo moment. The silicone ones have a welded seam, not that glued edge plastic bags get, so they can't blow out the same way. Plus you can flip them inside out to clean, and they take up almost no drawer space. I keep a backup parchment cone in my kit anyway, but honestly the silicone changed my whole frosting game for big batches.
