My neighbor's one comment about my sourdough crust changed everything
Last Tuesday I brought over a fresh loaf to my neighbor Carol and she said it looked like 'a rock with legs'. I was so embarrassed but she showed me her trick of spraying the loaf with water before baking, and the next one came out with a real crackle. Has anyone else gotten a surprisingly helpful baking tip from a random neighbor or coworker?
That "rock with legs" line got me because I used to skip the water spray and just bake it dry, swearing it made no difference. Tried the spray after a coworker mentioned it and wow, total game changer for that crust.
