Rant: My cousin's bakery in Seattle almost burned down because of a flour recall nobody told her about

I was talking to her yesterday and she said, 'I found out from a customer that a whole shipment of our main bread flour was recalled for possible metal bits, and we'd already used half the bag.' It hit different because our whole family eats her stuff, and the supplier never sent an alert. How are you all keeping up with ingredient recalls?

Yeah, the part about the distributor just quietly pulling the cheese says it all. It's like they figure if they don't make a fuss, the small shops won't either and they avoid a headache. That's so irresponsible when people's safety is involved. Your buddy got lucky his regular spoke up, but nobody should have to rely on luck. The whole system for telling small businesses is clearly broken.

That's terrifying, I'd be livid. My buddy runs a small pizza place and they had a cheese recall scare last year. The distributor just quietly pulled it from their next order, no call or email. He only found out because a regular who works at a grocery store mentioned seeing it on a list. It's wild how the little guys get left out of the loop.

Terrifying" feels like a stretch for some cheese.
