Dropped $300 on a commercial dough sheeter and it's gathering dust

I bake croissants at home for fun, and last fall I convinced myself I needed a dough sheeter to get those perfect layers. Found a used one on Craigslist for $300, drove an hour to pick it up, and brought it home. Problem is, it takes up half my counter and I hardly use it because rolling by hand is faster for small batches. Has anyone else impulse bought big bakery gear they regret?

Have you tried putting it up on Facebook Marketplace yet? You could probably get most of your money back since those things hold their value pretty well. Selling it now might be better than letting it take up space for another year.

@jake986 made a good point about local groups, but honestly why do you think people on FB Marketplace would pay anywhere near $300 for something that niche and awkward to move? Is there really a big home baker market for these things?

Facebook Marketplace is actually pretty good for bakery gear, but I've noticed dough sheeters don't hold value as well as people think. The commercial ones are heavy and hard to ship, so most local sales end up going for around $100-$150 unless you find someone who's really desperate. I bought a used one myself a few years ago and had to drop my price by half before it sold. Have you tried listing it in any local baking groups instead?
