Thought Troll 2 was just a joke pick, then my buddy in Tulsa made us watch it with no talking
I always rolled my eyes when people put Troll 2 on their so bad it's good lists. Then my friend Dave in Tulsa sat me down with a rule of no phones and no talking for the whole 95 minutes. The scene where the kid yells about the goblins got me so bad I had to pause it. What other movies only work if you watch them totally locked in like that?
Oh man, the full locked in thing is the only way some of these work. My rule with my crew is lights off, phones in a bowl, and if you talk you get a dare. The Room is a whole different movie when nobody is riffing over it, the awkward pauses just sit there and eat you alive. Miami Connection is another one, the taekwondo and the band scenes hit way harder when you let the silence do its thing. Take this with a grain of salt since it depends on your crowd, but usually one person giggling ruins the whole spell.
Gotta push back on this one. Riffing and laughing with your friends IS the whole point of watching bad movies together, thats what makes it fun. Sitting in dead silence watching The Room sounds like a boring night, like you guys are studying for a test or something. The awkward pauses are funny BECAUSE everyone is reacting to them, not in spite of it. If one person giggling ruins the whole spell, then maybe the spell wasnt that great to begin with, honestly.
