The $3 VHS copy of Troll 2 taught me the secret to bad movie night prep

I grabbed a beat up Troll 2 tape at a thrift store in Akron last Saturday for 3 bucks. My plan was just to watch it straight through, but the tracking was all messed up and the audio kept dropping out. So I started pausing and googling the cast, and then I found this blog about how the director never spoke English. That made the whole movie 10 times funnier because suddenly every line sounded like a weird translation. Now I always spend 20 minutes before a bad movie night looking up the production history. It turns a dumb movie into a whole event. Has anyone else found that background info makes a trash film way more entertaining?

You're right that the vegetarian thing is wild, but honestly knowing the history made me overthink the movie instead of just laughing at the cheese. I went down that same rabbit hole with a movie once and ended up feeling bad for the actors instead of enjoying the terrible dialogue. Sometimes going in blind lets the trash really shine on its own.
