Rented 'Troll 2' on DVD for $9 at a Chicago shop and the disc skipped through the entire popcorn scene
Save your cash and just stream it, since paying for a physical copy that freezes right when the goblins show up is the real horror here, so has anyone else gotten burned by a scratched rental or should I just stick to my $2 bin finds?
That "real horror" line is dead on because the popcorn scene is literally the whole movie. The goblins show up, the dad freaks out about the green stuff, and the kid is just standing there screaming. If your disc skips through that you missed the best part of the whole train wreck. Same thing happened to me with a used copy of Manos: The Hands of Fate, froze right at the part with the weird hand holding. I took a flashlight to the back of the disc and it looked like someone used it as a coaster. Now I always flip the disc over and check for deep scratches before I hand over any cash at a shop.
Wait, someone actually used a disc as a coaster? That is wild, like how do you even do that and then try to sell it to a shop like nothing happened. I check the back of every disc now too, but I never even thought about people just leaving them out on tables like furniture.
