My buddy swears Plan 9 is "too boring to be fun," and I finally pushed back
Last month at his place in Columbus, my friend Dan paused Plan 9 From Outer Space ten minutes in and said the flat acting and cardboard tombstones just made him sleepy, not amused. I get why people bounce off it, but I think the slow pace is exactly what makes it work, because it gives you room to notice the wobbling sets and the weird line reads. We ended up watching the whole thing and he admitted the flying saucer on a string got one real laugh out of him. So is the slower, duller kind of bad movie still a good bad movie night pick for you, or do you need constant chaos to stay awake?
