I used to laugh at Sharknado, now I get the appeal

A few years ago I would've called anyone a moron for sitting through Sharknado. Then my buddy dragged me to a watch party last summer and something clicked. The CGI sharks flying through a tornado are so bad they loop back around to being art. The cast clearly knows it's trash and that sold me. Anyone else have a so-bad-it's-good movie they swore they'd hate but ended up loving?

Did a friend ever try to make you watch The Room? My buddy Mark swore it was the worst movie ever made, which is why he showed it at his birthday party. We were laughing so hard at the terrible acting and the weird spoon pictures that I almost choked on my pizza. Now I get why people quote that mess.

That's exactly the thing though, we spend so much time filtering out all the boring, polished stuff that something this gloriously terrible becomes a shared experience. It's like this weird social shortcut to find other people who don't mind being silly and just want to laugh at something broken together. Kinda like how a perfectly normal restaurant might not make you remember anything, but a place with awful service and weird food becomes a story you tell for years.

Yep. Watched it at four different parties. It never gets old.
