Warning: I thought the suet cake hype was nonsense, and I'm still not sure I was wrong
I put out a suet cake in early February near my kitchen window in Spokane because everyone swore it would pull in woodpeckers, and for 3 weeks the only thing that touched it was one very determined starling. Then a downy woodpecker showed up on a cold morning and now I'm refilling the thing every 9 days, which feels like a lot of money for a bird that mostly ignores me. So is suet actually worth it for you, or did I just get lucky with one bird that happened to be passing through?
