Vent: I always thought the robin in my yard was just one bird coming back, but a bird banding report from the local Audubon chapter showed it's actually three different individuals using the same spot over a season.
Has anyone else had a similar surprise with a 'regular' visitor turning out to be multiple birds?

Three different robins? I would have bet my binoculars it was just one tough old bird holding down that territory all summer. Makes you wonder how many other regulars we've all been misidentifying.

Read a study where chickadees at feeders were often several look-alike birds, not one regular.

That bit about one bird holding down a territory all summer is actually how it works for robins lol. Males defend their spots pretty hard, so it's weird that three different ones used the same spot. Maybe it was a really good worm patch or something.
