The cardinal came back 3 days in a row and now I actually sit still

I used to just glance out the kitchen window while making coffee and never really watch. Then last Monday this male cardinal started landing on the same maple branch around 7am, right as I got home from my night shift. First day I noticed him, second day I found myself waiting for him, third day I set my mug down and just stood there for like 10 minutes. He wasn't doing anything special, just picking at buds and looking around. It hit me that I never actually stopped to look at anything in my own yard before. Now I keep a folding chair by the window and I'm tracking when he shows up. Has anyone else had one bird that turned them into a regular watcher?

You ever catch yourself getting legit bummed when they don't show up? I had a blue jay do that to me last fall. Now I've got a whole notebook of bird comings and goings like some kinda weirdo.
