Picked a tube feeder over a hopper for my finches this spring

I finally had to make a choice between a tube feeder and a hopper feeder for the goldfinches in my backyard. The hopper held more seed but the tube feeder had those little ports that keep the nyjer seed drier. After a rainy week last April I found mold in the hopper and that decided it for me. I switched to a 24-inch tube feeder with metal caps and it has been way easier to clean. The finches took to it right away and I fill it about once every 10 days now. Has anyone else found that tube feeders keep seed fresher longer than hoppers?

That tube feeder sounds like a solid choice, mold in the hopper is a dealbreaker for sure.

Yeah @the_richard nailed it, moldy seed is the worst. I've definitely wasted more money on soggy bird food than I'd like to admit, but hey, at least the squirrels get a bonus meal.
