My cheap bird bath cracked after one hard freeze

Put out a new ceramic bird bath in September, thought it would hold up through winter. First real freeze hit last Thursday in Toledo and now there's a crack straight through the basin. Anyone else switch to plastic or heated models after losing one to ice?

Lost two nice ceramic ones the same way a few winters back. Switched to a heavy plastic model with a heater built in and it's been through three brutal Ohio winters without a scratch.
