Brand new bird feeder broke after 3 days of rain

I spent $40 on this supposedly weatherproof feeder from the local hardware store and the plastic base just cracked right off during a storm Tuesday. Has anyone else had luck with metal feeders holding up better against the elements?

Read metal feeders rust way less than plastic in the rain.

Totally feel you on this, @the_amy. My plastic ones cracked within a season and the metal ones just keep going, even through all this nasty weather we've been having. It's a real bummer when you think something will last and it doesn't.
