Just looked up the stats for the Colorado Trail and it blew my mind

I was planning a route for next summer and started reading the official page for the Colorado Trail. Turns out it has 567 miles of trail with a total elevation gain of 89,000 feet. That is basically climbing Mount Everest three times over the course of a month. I knew it was hilly but I didn't expect numbers that big. Has anyone here actually done the full 500 miles and how did your knees hold up?

Did your knees make it through okay or did you need to take a lot of rest days?

Wait @joel_hall17 did you try those compression sleeves or just ice?

Yeah I feel you on this one. I've been through that same thing where your knees just ache after a long day of standing or moving around. What really helped me was taking it slow and not trying to push through the pain. I started doing this thing where I'd ice them for 15 minutes after work, then do some real gentle stretches before bed. Also compression sleeves made a huge difference for me, they kept everything warm and supported without being too tight. You might want to try taking a couple rest days here and there, but don't completely stop moving or it'll get stiff and worse.
