Got chased off a ridge near Mount Katahdin by a bold gray jay and I still think about it
Was camping near Chimney Pond two summers ago and left my trail mix open on a rock while I filtered water. A gray jay landed on my pack, stared at me, and then dive bombed my hand when I reached for the bag. It stole exactly 3 cashews and one peanut M&M before I gave up. Now I hang everything from a tree branch, even stuff I think is safe, and I have not lost a single snack since. Does anyone else have a bird or animal that just owns a specific spot on a route?
