The whole point of an emergency fund is that you don't touch it for anything else. If you start calling every small problem an emergency, the money vanishes before the real crisis hits. I keep mine in a separate account so it's not even tempting to dip into. It's not about being a tightwad, it's about having a real safety net when your car actually dies or you lose your job. That peace of mind is worth way more than using it for a weekend trip or a new gadget.
