Pro tip: the lead guy at the Van Nuys hangar asked me to walk him through a wire repair like I was the student
Two weeks back I was finishing up a harness splice on a King Air and he stands there the whole time watching me strip and crimp. Then he says "show me why you picked that length." Not in a mean way, just flat out asking. I fumbled the answer for a second, then walked him through the routing and the chafe points. He nodded and walked off. Turns out he does that with everybody, even the guys who've been on the floor 20 years. Made me say the reason out loud instead of just doing it on habit. I've been thinking about it since. How many of my repairs are just muscle memory at this point?
