Found a loose cannon plug on a Garmin G1000 install with a dental pick and a mirror
I was doing a G1000 install on a Cessna 172 at a shop in Wichita two days ago and chasing a random comm dropout. Spent 45 minutes wiggling wires under the panel with no luck, then my lead handed me a dental pick and a $8 inspection mirror from the hardware store. Turned out the cannon plug on the GIA 63 was finger tight and the backshell was just loose enough to break contact when the engine vibrated. I got maybe a quarter turn on it with the pick through the mirror and the dropout went away. Has anyone else rigged up a mirror and pick setup for tight spots like that? Curious what other cheap tools you keep in your box for stuff you can't reach.
