Open vs enclosed for a 900 mile haul: I went enclosed after a rock chip and now I'm second guessing it
Moved a car from Phoenix to Albuquerque last month, about 420 miles, and went with an enclosed trailer for $650 instead of open at $400. Reason was my last open haul got a chip in the hood from road debris. But now I'm wondering if I overpaid for a short trip. Two sides of this: open is cheaper and fine for most cars, enclosed protects paint but costs way more and limits which carriers will take the job. What do you all do for hauls under 500 miles? Is enclosed ever worth it on a short run or did I just burn $250?
